After arriving at Santiago Calatrava's airport terminal the group stayed in the grand hotel next to Bilbao's transporter bridge. Sights in the city included the Guggenheim museum and Zubi-Zuri, Calatrava's white bridge.

A visit to stay at Peter Zumthor's Vals Therma allowed access to several of Robert Maillarts and Christian Menns bridges. The life-time development of these engineers work could be studied through succeeding projects.
